Top 7 Ways How To Burn Calories During Sex (According To Experts)
There are numerous reasons to have sex, ranging from procreation to promoting intimacy to having fun to raising one’s heart rate. So, if you want to stay active and feel good, learning how many calories sex burns, if any, can help.
Depending on how “frisky” you and your partner are during sex, you may end up out of breath and sweaty, making it feel even more like a workout than a brisk walk or weight training session.
However, while sex does burn calories, the amount of calories you burn depends on a number of factors, beginning with the number of calories you typically burn during any type of physical activity.
The positions you’re in and the specific things you and your partner do during sex can all have an impact on how many calories you burn. “If you’re on top, your heart rate will be higher than in positions like missionary because you’re the one controlling thrusting and movement,” SKYN Condoms sex and intimacy expert Gigi Engle explains. However, it is not only sexual activity that burns calories. Everything preceding it does as well.
Based on a 150-pound woman’s body weight, here are seven different ways you can burn calories during sex, along with expert tips on how to amp things up to burn even more during your next session.
#7. Romantic Dancing: 219 calories per hour
Even with your clothes on, a little dancing can be a great workout for you and your partner. Ballroom dancing burns 219 calories per hour, according to the Mayo Clinic.
“It has been shown in scientific studies that women become aroused and lubricated more easily right after an aerobic exercise,” says Barbara Bartlik, M.D., a New York-based psychiatrist and sex therapist. Slow dancing is fine, but to get a real workout, Kinzbach recommends kissing, nibbling the neck, and touching while dancing.
#6. Kissing: 68 calories per hour
Are you wondering Remember how much calories burn in kiss?
When you were first dating and (possibly) strictly going to first base, you’d lock lips only to come up for air about 30 minutes later?
Kissing, according to Nature, a research community that focuses on societal interactions, can not only deepen social attachment between partners, but it can also help get a few rounds of exercise in.
“If the kissing is vigorous and includes some petting, it could be closer to 90 calories burned in an hour,” says Jaiya Kinzbach, a Los Angeles-based sexologist and author of Red Hot Touch.
Kinzbach suggests “kissing in unusual positions if you want to turn kissing into an honest-to-goodness workout session.” Do a ‘plank pose’ or a push-up on top of the guy, coming down to kiss him and then pushing back up. In 30 minutes, push-ups burn 171 calories.”
#5. Massaging: 80 calories per hour
Who doesn’t enjoy a good back rub from their partner? If you’re the giver, you get an additional benefit (aside from making your significant other happy): you burn calories.
According to Carole Lieberman, M.D., a Beverly Hills psychiatrist and author, giving a massage burns 80 calories per hour. Though it can raise your heart rate and put your body into calorie-burning mode, the best way to increase the intensity of the massage is not to speed it up.
Instead, Kinzbach recommends going slower. “This may seem counterintuitive to calorie burning, but going slower and deeper is not only more sensual, but it also works different muscles. I also recommend investing in a massage table because it is better for your body and burns more calories.”
#4. Having Sex: 69 calories on average
7 minutes of sex is equivalent to 69 Calories.
Are you wondering how many calories does sex burn ?
The number of calories burned during sex varies greatly from session to session and from person to person. Researchers from the University of Montreal asked 21 heterosexual couples aged 18 to 35 to have sex once a week for four weeks while wearing an activity tracker to track calories.
According to the study, women burned about 69 calories on average during a 25-minute session, while men burned around 100 calories. Isiah McKimmie, a couples therapist and sexologist, agrees. “It’s not as much as we might think,” she says. “It’s not much more than going for a walk.”
Experts agree that the key to high-calorie-burning sex is to keep it hot and long. “The more calories you burn, the longer and more vigorous your sexual activity,” McKimmie explains. Kinzbach adds that a little moaning and sighing can help you burn an extra 18 to 30 calories.
#3. Giving Oral Sex: 100 calories per half-hour
Going down on your partner can burn up to 100 calories every 30 minutes, according to Brooke Marrone, owner of Brooke Marrone Fitness in New York. If you want to burn even more fat, Kinzbach suggests having oral sex with your partner while doing push-ups.
“You can also do a little yoga,” Kinzbach suggests, which adds 35 calories. “Try going from plank to downward facing dog, then back to plank where you can lower down and do some oral stimulation.”
#2. Using Your Hands: 100 calories per hour
Of course, doing things by hand burns calories. According to Alyssa Dweck, M.D., a gynaecologist, “helping out can burn up to 100 calories per hour depending on vigour and position.”
By increasing the intensity, you can burn an additional 50 calories per half-hour, according to Kinzbach. “Get a lot of things going at once,” she advises.
“Experiment with really slow sensual strokes and positioning yourself so you can use your body as well.” She adds that rocking your body against theirs and varying the pressure and frequency can also help.
#1. Making Out: 230 calories per half-hour
A passionate make-out session while still wearing your clothes can be a powerful calorie burner.
Why? According to Gilda Carle, PhD, a psychotherapist and relationship expert, anticipation can raise your heart rate. She says it causes heavy breathing, which causes a significant calorie burn.
But by making the exercise hotter and sweatier, you can still get the most out of it. Kinzbach continues, “The more sweaty the make-out session, the more calories you burn.
Think Bikram (also known as “hot” yoga) yoga. Try shifting your position or rolling around on the bed as well. “Make it erotic and playful, and you have a great recipe for a fun workout.”
BONUS: Do this BEFORE you touch her
A woman’s sexual response to you depends on one thing:
How TURNED ON you get her, BEFORE you make a move on her…
Whether it’s your wife of 20 years…Or a girl you’ve just met…
New research out of MIT shows some crazy things happen to a woman’s brain when she gets aroused:
Not only does her BODY get ready to be penetrated…But her MIND becomes more open and receptive…
As the brain areas designed to ‘rein in’ her sexual behaviour
literally SHUT DOWN.
In other words, she becomes:
– More impulsive
– More sexually aggressive
– More orgasmic, and
– More open to doing things her “unaroused self” would roll her eyes at…
As she loses self-control…And becomes a slave to the raw, animal impulses urging her to wrap her legs around you.
This phenomenon is called The Override Effect…
And setting it off in a woman is THE KEY to making her lose control…And giving her the most intense sexual experience she’s ever had…
Learn how to set it off here
PS: If you’ve ever felt irrational and impulsive around a really hot woman, you’ve felt The Override Effect in your own brain…
Imagine making any woman feel like THAT for you…She’d be desperate to have you inside her…And you’d be in total control of where things go…
Here’s how to do it
